Elfaria Chapter 57

057. One's Hand (手札)

――I suddenly remembered a trivia in my mind: "A golem is a mud doll in Jewish folklore, and in Hebrew, it means 'unborn child'.

So what's the matter with that? ― I'd be in trouble if I were told that, and it would probably be more accurate to describe the opponent currently fighting in front of me as a "stone doll".

(But――)

Even so, I feel uncomfortable with its too-smooth behavior.

If you think about it from the perspective of the original world, you might say, "What's going on with the joints and all that?" There are many things I'd like to go into, but...

「Damn! It's hard and emotionless, so I can't tell if my attack working or not!?」

I've been attacking in coordination with Lilyza since a while ago, but I can't say that any change has appeared at all.

At first, it looked like the golem had narrowed down its target to either me or Lilyza, but its stamina seems to be inexhaustible. It is so powerful that you would think, If I were to take even a single blow, would I not turn into a lump of meat at that moment? And then...

「...... Because of its size and quick reaction time, we can only attack from the waist down!」

Since I was using folia [Physical Enhancement], it is possible to strike the head by leaping, regardless of the size of the opponent.

However, despite its appearance, its response speed is fast and seamless.

When the Goblin King was almost the same size, I still had the means to strike.

He was armed with a sword and shield, but he wore little or nothing on his body, and I could inflict damage by slashing him. I was able to weaken him.

(Still ......)

Even if you slashed or hit this golem, you didn't feel that you were doing any damage. Moreover.

「[Energy bolt]!」

Even if I use folia, they are easily repelled.

We're not getting anywhere this way―I can no longer hide my frustration, but...

「!!?? Lilyza!?」

I turned my eyes and saw that Lilyza was standing on a stick and was about to receive the golem's fist head-on.

I rushed to her rescue, but...

「......Hhhaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!」

When she explodes her force, she avoids the fist with minimal movement. Then, with a quick movement, she tangled with the golem's right arm, which was impaled on the ground.

「Aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!」

She did a joint technique with brute force and broke it off.

「T-that was amaziiiiiiiiing!!!!!」

I never imagined that she would rip off one of the golem's arms in such a gallant way―She's a hell of a woman. However,...

「Gyaaaaa!!」

The moment she stopped moving, perhaps using too much power. Lilyza was knocked away by the golem's left hand.

Then I saw her body bounce like a ball slammed into the ground and then stop moving――

「――You bastaaaarrrddddddd!!!!」

Blood rushing to my head, I launched a furious attack, but the golem still wouldn't stop moving.

(Damn it! This isn't any different from the time with Rodl!)

There is no "skill" powerful enough to change the battle situation with a single blow――I can't help but feel repulsed by my own incompetence, which has not grown much at all since then!

「What the hell am I supposed to do!?」

I wish someone had told me.

A must-kill move ― literally, "a technique that will surely kill your enemies", before I came to Elfaria. Despite having been exposed to so many mangas, anime, and video games in Japan, I had not even been able to get an idea of what it was like.

In fact, I was able to imitate them "in form only".

But I have come to the conclusion that such things are not only useless in actual combat, but are actually detrimental.

(Of course. Most of that stuff is just a 'figment of the imagination'!)

The convenient setting, the plausible logic, the prearranged course ― it just happened to work with the energy bolt.

 But as for the rest――

(No! That's wrong!)

A voice of restraint, akin to a revelation――and

「......!」

I stopped unleashing an unparalleled attack and took my own distance from the golem, then forced myself to repeat deep breaths.

「...... phew. I remember that I was told that "if you lose your 'cool' under any circumstances, you will surely lose".」

What I remembered was Jean's advice.

「I certainly don't see how we're going to get anywhere if I continue to attack blindly like this. Besides.」

I glanced over and saw that Barbara was treating Lilyza.

Osada-kun and Nora are by her side, and it looks like there isn't any danger to her life.

I take another deep breath and think, "Well then, what should I do now?".

(Calmly observing the situation, I see that the golem is moving slightly slower ― Its movements are a little strange, perhaps because Lilyza has ripped off one of its arms.)

This must have caused the golem to lose its balance.

However, the fact remains that the golem is still a threat, and the option to leave it alone does not exist.

(Look at "reality" calmly! Put aside your fantasies of special moves and make the most of the cards you have in your hand!)

There is no such thing as a technique that can conveniently defeat an opponent with a single shot, at least not "now".

 ――【Sensing】

Calm your mind and sense the golem's condition. Then,

(...... hmm?)

I sense a faint flow of force that circulates within the Golem's body.

It concentrates on a single point ...... called the "nape of the neck" in humans―

 [Physical Enhancement] Full throttle!

The limiter that is usually unconsciously applied is released. By expending more force than usual, I forcefully enhanced my abilities.

(Concentrate my force to a single point――the hammer!)

After performing "operation" and "amplification," the basics of folia, I rushed toward the golem with a shout. And then――

「Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!」

Dodging an attack with my left arm, I turn around and flash my halberd.

The blow with all my might pierced the golem's vital point ― the neck ― as if sucked in, and in the next moment. When I thought the whole thing was cracked, it crushed and died as it was.

「Haaagh! Haaah! Haaaah!......H-how's that! I've done it, bloody heeelllll!!」

When I exploded with emotion, Osada-kun, who had been watching what was going on, and several people who had been listening to the situation raised their voices as if in response.
