Chapter 13 - Changing Job
I went to the armor shop and bought a solid leather armor to prepare for the happenings during the battle, but I was worried about the smell of this leather armor.
"This ...... *sniff sniff*, it smells kind of disgusting."
The smell. It smells like a beast.
"I wonder if it is?"
Keiji-kun, he have a dull nose, and he doesn't seem to mind at all. As for Erwin, he didn't want to buy armor because sorcerers are not vanguards. I think it's dangerous when you have to deal with that horned rabbit again. ...... I think it's best not to talk too much about other people's equipment (fashion).
"Then, let's go hunting horned rabbits again!"
Keiji-kun said with a smirk, but that doesn't mean you want to see my clothes get torn, does it?
"Wait a minute, Keiji-kun. I want to change my class now that my level has risen."
Erwin suggested.
"I'll be a warrior then!"
"Class change means to change occupation, right?"
I didn't understand the word, but I guessed it from the flow of the conversation and asked him.
Yes, that's right. I talked to the adventurer's guild yesterday, and they said that you can apprentice yourself to a professional at various guilds."
Erwin explained to me that he's been doing a lot of research on how this world works. I should probably get serious about that too. With the way Kojima-sensei is acting, it doesn't look like he'll be leaving anytime soon. ......Fuu~.
"I understand. So Erwin is become a Magician after all, right?
"Yeah, Of course . Let's split up here for now and meet back at the inn after we're done with the procedures."
"Got it! Okay."
I decided to check with the adventurer's guild to see what kind of jobs they had. Keiji-kun ran off on his own, but I'm sure he'll come back to the Adventurer's Guild if he doesn't know.
"Hey, how's it going, Serina?"
I went to the counter of the Adventurer's Guild and was greeted by a smiling staff member.
"I guess I'm doing well. I had a hard time with the horned rabbit."
The people here tend to look at me strangely when I talk to them in honorific terms, so I try to speak in a friendly way like an adventurer.
"Yeah, that thing has a high attack power, so you beginners should avoid it."
"That's true. But when my level get a little higher, I'll be able to handle it with my skills."
"Yeah, well, don't take it too hard. You only have one life."
"Yeah, thanks. By the way, I'd like to change jobs, can you tell me what kind of jobs there are?"
"Well, Warriors, Swordsman, Thief, and Magician are the most popular professions (classes). There are also Bards, Merchants, and other oddities, but they're not really suited for combat."
"I like the idea of being good at combat. And I'd like to hunt and level up for a while."
I've already realized that leveling up makes you stronger, too. The power of your attacks will increase, and you'll be able to kill an enemy with a single attack, whereas before you had to attack twice to kill it. Well, that's only true for slimes and goblins.
"Then how about Swordsman? I think it's better for you to dodge and attack than to wear heavy armor and act as a shield to prevent the enemy from attacking."
"Yeah, that might be better."
It won't tear my clothes.
"Okay, go to this place. Do you know how to read a map?"
"Yeah, I'm good."
I was told where to go, and I went to the Swordsman's Guild.
"Here it is."
When I went to the place I saw on the map, I saw a sign with a sword design carved into it.
"Hello――"
As I opened the door and went inside, I heard a woman arguing from inside. No, it was just one of them arguing with the other. A young lady with gilded armor and vertically rolled hair――I think her name was Isabelle――was shouting at the guild receptionist sitting at the counter.
"That's why I'm asking you to introduce me to the best master in Erland, the capital. Money is no object."
"Sigh, but, young lady, can't you say that Orson-san, who I introduced to you before, is the best in the royal capital, or ...... can't you say that Welbard-san is the best?"
The receptionist asked with a troubled look on her face.
"I've heard that it's a cheap place for the common people."
"Yes, well, that's true, but sometimes there are advanced noblemen who go there to learn."
"No, I , who may be the lineage of the marquis, would not want to mingle with the common people."
She put her hand over her mouth and laughed mockingly, and Isabelle glanced at me.
"Ara, it's Selina isn't it."
"It's Serina, though."
The other party is a nobleman, and I should be humble to her.
"So, what can I do for you? I'm telling you, it's too early for you to be fighting with me."
"No, no, I'm just here to change my job to a Swordsman."
Why do I have to fight with you? Well, when I'm stronger, I might be able to play with you.
"Ara, that's right. Well, fufu, you should at least get yourself an iron breastplate, you know. The smell of the beast reeks, reeks, reeks. Ah It's stink!
"Kkuhh!"
She's really annoying.
"I'm sorry to bother you then. *chuckle*."
Isabelle smiled triumphantly as she walked briskly past me. I was humiliated like never before.
I'll definitely replace it with iron armor.
"Phew, sorry to keep you waiting. You're the one who wanted to change jobs, right?"
"Yes, I did."
"Then I'll take a hundred gold in advance. And please write your name here."
I handed over a large copper coin and wrote my name on a piece of parchment.
"You must be Serina-san. Please go to the room over there."
I wrote my name in Japanese as Shiraishi Serina, but it was strange that people could understand it. Well, whatever.
When I entered the back room, I found a well-built old swordsman there.
"Welcome, young woman."
"Hello. So I'm supposed to match hands with you?"
I pulled out my sword with great enthusiasm.
"No, no, no, I want to do that, but we don't do that kind of thing here. Say a prayer to the statue there."
"Ahh, yes."
I kneeled down on the floor, put my hands together and prayed to the stone statue of the swordsman.
『I'll grant you your wish』
I heard a man's voice.
"This is ......"
"You've heard the voice of the swordsman. Your new job is a success. Take a look at your status."
"Yes, sir."
When I thought about it, the status screen opened.
〈Name〉Serina 〈Level〉7
〈Class〉Hero/Swordman 〈Race〉Human
〈Gender〉Female 〈Age〉17
〈HP〉108/108 〈MP〉55/ 55
〈TP〉62/ 62
〈Status〉Normal
〈EXP〉200 〈NEXT〉195
〈Money〉422
Yeah, the second class has changed from villager to swordsman! Also, my HP has increased by 10. Other than that, my basic abilities, such as Strenght, have not changed. But I guess the more HP you have, the less likely you are to die, so I'll just keep increasing it.
"Thank you very much."
"Hmmm, good luck with that."
While I was waiting back at the inn, Keiji-kun and Erwin joined me.
"Hehe, I'm a warrior now!"
"I'm happy for you."
Nothing has changed in Keiji-kun appearance, but he looks happy, jumping up and down with a gut pose.
"What about you, Serina-neechan?"
"I've changed my job to Swordsman too. And Erwin?"
"Yeah. I changed my job to a Magician too, but it seems I can't learn new spells without going to a master or a magic school. I guess leveling up isn't enough."
"Yeah ...... hmmm"
It must take a lot of money and time when it comes to masters and schools of magic.
"Then let's go hunting as soon as possible to see if we're getting stronger!"
Keiji-kun, you seem to be so full of yourself, well, I can't help it. I suppose we'll talk about Erwin's magic after the hunt.
Erwin shrugged his shoulders as if he had no choice but to follow Keiji-kun as he ran.
