Prologue

　The beginning of life is abrupt.

　The end is equally abrupt.

　There are those whose life starts suddenly today and those whose life ends suddenly today.

　Some have desired beginnings and those who have dreaded beginnings.

　However, one must not lament their misfortune, for such lamentation holds no meaning.

　The value of life is determined not by where it began, but by where it is headed.

　Take up the sword and walk forward while fighting.

　The strength of the given sword is irrelevant. What is necessary is the will to fight.

　Even the direction may be unknown to anyone, whether it is right or wrong.

　The path one believed to be ahead may actually be behind.

　There is no one to teach the correct answer. Even if taught, it may not be believed.

　Therefore, there will be pain and many moments when one wants to stop.

　But without walking, there is no progress.

　One must move forward toward the "front" they believe in.

　That is what life signifies.

　It represents the journey toward the end.

　Each person walks their own path toward their respective end.

　Along the way, one may encounter someone.

　There may be a desire to walk beside that person.

　There may be a desire to reach the same end as that person.

　This is a story of such lives.

　A tale of those who walk from unwanted beginnings toward desired endings.
