Volume 2: Chapter 3 - 2 Floor Conquer

　The second floor.

　Here, too, the main monsters are slimes, but occasionally a monster called Giant Rabbit appears.

　It looks like a Horned Rabbit, the boss of the first floor, but without the horns.

　The lack of horns makes them weaker.

　No, the Horned Rabbit's abilities other than their horns are also low across the board.

「Oryaaa!」

「Kyuu......」

　The Giant Rabbit's chest was caught by a thrust from the 【Horned Rabbit Horn】, and the enemy was obliterated without a second thought.

　This 【Horned Rabbit Horn】 has the effect of "Attack +3" and can be used as a weapon without processing it.

　Although its performance is lower than that of the equipment of the 【Beginner】 series, the 【Beginner Kitchen Knife】 is the only one that can be used as a weapon in the 【Beginner】 series.

　The 【Beginner's Kitchen Knife】 has an "Attack +10" effect, but it has a short reach.

　If there was a sashimi knife, it would be a different matter, but unfortunately, only one santoku knife is available.

　The 【Beginner's Frying Pan】 is longer in reach alone, but it is treated as a piece of armor (or is it a shield?). ――and only has the effect of "Defense +10".

　Of course, it is possible to hit an enemy with the frying pan, but there is no correction based on the equipment.

　When you defeat a monster, you sometimes get meat like this, but thankfully, it has already been bled out and is ready to be used as meat.

　Moreover, the meat does not deteriorate in the dungeon and does not stain your hands or surroundings with fat, so you can carry it around in an ordinary bag.

　Rabbit meat tends to drop when you defeat rabbit monsters, but if you defeat stronger monsters, you can get meat with a higher rarity.

　Also, the rarer the meat, the tastier it is.

「Let's take as much as I can with us for now.」

　I took out 【Backpack N】from my inventory and put 【Rabbit Meat N】in it.

　There are other types of bags, such as 【Shoulder Bags】 and 【Pouches】, and as the rarity of these bags increases, their storage capacity increases, their weight decreases, and they have anti-degradation functions.

　The 【Backpack N】 is a slightly larger backpack with the same capacity as it appears, but with no added features.

　It is a popular bag for beginner explorers because it allows both of your hands to be free, has a reasonable amount of storage space, and is inexpensive.

　If you can explore two floors, it is not unnatural to carry it.

　There may be some doubt as to how you brought something into the dungeon that was not on your back when you entered the dungeon, but that should not be a problem since no one would be watching the countless jersey-wearing novice explorers very carefully.

「Now, let's keep going.」

　I carried a 【Backpack N】 containing 【Rabbit Meat N】 and started walking.

　Thanks to the ability correction based on my level, I hardly felt the weight of the pack.

　The stab horn pierced through the Giant Rabbit.

　The Giant Rabbit, which disappeared shortly after, dropped 【Rabbit Fur N】, in addition to copper coins, crystals, and magic stones.

「If I remember correctly, this one was a rare drop.」

　Monster drop items include normal drops and rare drops.

　In the case of the Giant Rabbit, the first one 【Rabbit Meat N】 is a normal drop and 【Rabbit Fur N】 is a rare drop, and of course, the drop rate of the rare one is much lower.

　Incidentally, with Horned Rabbit, the normal drop is 【Rabbit Meat NP】, and the rare drop is 【Horned Rabbit Horn】, though you can always get the rare drop in the boss fight.

「I guess my bag is getting pretty full.」

　I advanced to 2nd floor while aiming for the boss area, but I encountered more monsters than I expected, and the bag I carried was quite full of meat, furs, and magic stones.

　I had to use the 【Exp Crystal】 each time because it became luggage, but as expected, the experience value from defeating the enemies on the 2nd floor was not enough to make up for it.

　It must have been quite heavy, but thanks to the increase in【Strength】with each level up, it didn't become that much of a burden.

「Anyway, I think I would go back once I beat the boss.」

　I thought of going as far as I could, but it would be too unnatural to go on without seeing the drop items.

「I finally arrived.」

　Just as I was about to fill up my 【Backpack N】, a red magic circle appeared, and I hop into it without hesitation.

「Oh, there it is」

　A dog-shaped monster called a Forest Hound appeared in the same grassland as on the first floor.

　It was as ferocious as a hound.

　Without any level correction, you would take damage even if you were wearing equipment from the 【Beginner】 series if you get attacked.

　However, if you raise your level to 3 or so on the first or second floor, it is not a difficult enemy to fight.

「Grrrrr ......」

　Forest Hound, still at a considerable distance from me, glares at me and growls while lightly lowering its body.

　If I had encountered a situation like this when I was living in Japan normally, I would have probably pissed my pants.

　Thinking about that, I took out a 【Kunai】 from my inventory.

「Shhhh ......!」

　I quickly took aim and threw it at the enemy.

　My <Throwing Technique> is NP+, which is more proficient than <One-handed Swordsmanship>.

　The 【Kunai】 that I threw flew as I aimed, but the Forest Hound flew diagonally forward and rushed toward me while dodging.

　Its instantaneous power is tremendous, and it would be able to close the distance in less than two seconds.

　However, just before the enemy took its second step, the 【Kunai】 I continued to throw caught the Forest Hound between the eyes.

　I've already expected to be dodged.

「Grrr......」

　With a low growl, the Forest Hound disappeared.

　Even though it is a throwing weapon, the rarity of the 【Kunai】 is R, so it has a certain amount of attack power.

　And now the power of Level 12 was added to it.

　It should be possible to defeat the Forest Hound with a single blow.

「Well, let's go back once.」

　I picked up the 【Dog Fang N】 dropped by the Forest Hound and other drop items, and got on the blue magic circle.
