Volume 8: The Great Revolution
Prologue
"The Labyrinth of No Return" is a place where many adventurers dream of making a fortune.
We had successfully conquered the fifth layer of the labyrinth, the Ice Labyrinth, but the snowman boss was giving us a hard time.
"It's coming at us! Run!"
"Kkuh, someone, please get Meena-san!"
Fianna, the cleric, who had given up on healing and stood up, shook her long light blue hair and shouted.
Meena is lying there unconscious.
I wanted to run over to her and help her up, but the distance between us made it difficult.
"Serina, please."
"No, I'm going to attack."
"What? You're saying you don't care what happens to Meena?"
"I'm not saying that. But if we don't do something about the boss, we'll be wiped out. I have to hit the core with the starlight attack somehow."
"Stop trying something you don't even know if it's possible. Your skill points are limited, you know."
"Still!"
"Hey! This is no time to be arguing, you two! Tch, I'll take care of this."
"Idiot, you can't do it, Jouga. You can't fall down, so stop."
It's not that he can't get up with his prosthetic legs, but in this situation, even slowing down hurts.
"Aahh, geez, you'll never make it! Idiot!"
Letty gave up her attack spell and used levitation magic to move Meena, saving her from a direct hit by the snowman.
However, as Luka and Ione were about to come in to help, both were blown away by the boss's rush, and the damage was severe.
"Damn it, Lily, get her to recover quickly. using an Item."
I gave the Lily, the ranger, a recovery potion.
"I'm not going to be able to do that right away! Let's see, the one who get biggest damage is ......"
"No, just scatter the potions and healing potions around! Hurry up!"
I should've had her take some skills. I didn't think I'd be this last minute.
"Oh no, I'm out of potions! Somebody give me a spare!"
Saki said, but with one less person to recover, it's going to be tough. No, I don't think we can hold out much longer.
"Abort the attack! Everyone, buy me some time!"
I give up on the boss fight and try to escape. But it's not going to be easy.
As promised, the door closes behind me in the boss room.
However, I have the skill of [Instantaneous Movement].
With this skill, can I go forcibly ......?
I picked up Nene, who was unconscious and had been pulled to the edge, and used my [Instantaneous Movement] skill.
It was a last-ditch attempt, but I was able to get out of the room and into the corridor. Nene was with me.
I checked her HP, but there was no problem.
"Alright."
I went back, and this time, I picked up Meena and use [Instantaneous Movement] again.
"Ah, I thought I was going to die. Seriously."
"I was so worried that Alec was going to leave me alone, Uwann"
It took a while, but I managed to get everyone out.
I'm so tired. ......
【Reduction in Skill Stiffness Lv5】 New!
【Reduce Skill Points Usage Lv5】 New!
【Increase Speed of Skill Use Lv5】 New!
Once you've settled in, you should acquire new skills in that area and improve the bottleneck.
"Lily, did you take any of the item skills? No. I can look at them myself."
There was a 【View Party Status Lv Max】.
When I looked at her, I saw that Lily had taken [Potion Scattering], so that was fine.
We all returned to the inn on the surface in silence and ate our dinner in hushed tones.
"What's the matter, everyone's so quiet today. You're back safe and sound."
Ada, the proprietress of the inn, laughed at me with ease, but this time we were really on the edge.
It would have been no surprise if one or two people had died.
"No wonder. We almost died, auntie."
Jouga said.
"I can see that by looking at you. But you guys are alive. You're survived. Don't look so glum. You should only make a gloomy face when there are dead people. It's not going to make anything better if you're gloomy."
As exxpected, as a former A-rank adventurer, she can see through that.
Well, I guess I should honestly ask my seniors to teach me a lesson here. It's too late to regret it after someone dies.
"Ada, give me a hint about the boss of the fifth layer."
"Oh, the snowman? I think it's best to put its out with fire. You guys have two mages."
"It's impossible! A snowman that big would only melt a little even with my biggest flames."
Letty slammed the table in frustration.
"Hmm? It's big, well, a little bigger than a person's height, but..."
"I see, so that's what it is....."
Apparently, the size of our special version is different from the norm.
The next time I see that bespectacled goddess, I'm going to r*pe her, no questions asked.
"If Letty's magic can't get rid of it, it's going to be tough. If that's the case, I'll have to use my special move."
Serina is enthusiastic, but since she couldn't defeat it after slashing it so many times, she should change her ways a little.
"We're going to take a break for a while. Each of you find a way to defeat that snowman. All right."
"""Got it."""
The next day, a little after eleven in the morning, I went to the inn's cafeteria to get up, and found that Serina had returned, pouting.
"Geeez!!"
"What's wrong?"
"I was asking around in the tavern for some strategies, and I found some terrible people."
"Hmm?"
I'm sure she would use a starlight attack if any guy tried to woo her.
"They're saying it's easier to fight with a wall of slaves."
"Yeah, well, that's useless advice."
"I know. I mean, what do they think they're doing with human life?"
Besides, with the pressure of that snowball, there's no way we can prevent it from rushing forward, even with a line of well-built slaves.
"Well, we don't fight like that. Keep up the good work."
"Yeah, I know. Can I join you for meal? I'm hungry when I'm mad."
"I don't mind. Breakfast, landlady."
"It's an after-hours breakfast, so we'll charge you extra."
"But I haven't had breakfast here yet, and it's morning in my time, so it's unfair and misleading."
"It's none of my business."
I still don't get it.
"Let's just have lunch. I'll pay for it. Landlady, I'll have bread, fried chicken and cheese, please. And some vegetable soup for Alec."
"Sure."
I sipped my late breakfasts and decided to go to the Royal Library.
The tavern has already been canvassed by Serina, so another place would be better.
"Here, right."
"Yes, Master."
Meena and I looked up at the huge building.
It looks more like a temple than a library. It's a Parthenon-like building with huge columns lined up on the outside.
"Let's go."
"Yes, sir."
We go inside. There were two soldiers guarding the entrance, but books are valuable in this world.
It's different from the modern world where it's easy to make copies.
"This is a library, you know. This is where you read books."
As soon as the soldier saw me, he gave me a look of disgust, but I knew what he meant.
"That's why, I came here to read."
The soldier gives me a funny look, and both of them look at each other and start laughing.
They're kind of rude, aren't they?
"Um, Master is a B rank adventurer, and he can read properly. Besides, he is acquainted with the king."
"What!? B rank?"
"You're acquainted with the king!?"
Is that so surprising?
Meena, don't say too much.
It's not very nice to say that you know the king in this kind of situation, as it seems like you're wielding power. Besides, the less conspicuous you are, the better.
"I'm sorry, Master."
"If the King knew you, you'd have some kind of mark on you. But you're dressed like that, huh?"
"Ahh."
The soldier looks me up and down with condescending eyes, but hmm, the burlap suit was a mistake. I chose this because it was cooler, but in this world where the status system is strict, the way you dress is one of the status indicators.
It's not like I can say "normcore" or "jobs style".
"Oh, yeah, there's this."
I pulled out the pass that the king had given me from my pocket.
"This is a platinum pass!"
"Is that something that only high class nobles have? I thought it was silver."
"No, it's not. If it were silver, it'd be darker and there'd be writing engraved on it."
"It's true...!"
The two soldiers looked at me again. They looked at me as if they were looking at something they didn't understand.
"*Ahem*, can I come through?"
"Ye-yes, I'm sorry, sir!"
"P-please come on by."
"No, no, no, you don't need to worry about it, hahahaha."
It's probably because I'm not used to the privilege that I'm kind of slumped over.
And it's not nice to criticize someone for something you didn't know. It's not the fault of these two soldiers.
The pass is for getting through.
So if you can get through, that's all that matters.
"Master ...... is admirable!"
Meena looked at me with respect, but I told her not to lift me up too much because I would misunderstand her and start to feel like it.
I went inside and found it to be quite a large library. The center part was an atrium, but the front, back, and sides were four stories high.
With so many books to choose from, I'm a little stunned as to where to start.
"It's amazing ......"
Meena seems to agree with me, but now, I wonder where the classification of How to Beat a Snowman would be: .......
Just as I was thinking that it would be a challenge to walk around here and look at the classifications, a voice came from behind me.
"Are you looking for something?"
It was a clear voice.
I turned around and saw a beautiful girl in a sky-blue priest-like dress standing there with a smile on her face. She was probably the librarian here.
"Ah. I'm looking for a story about a man and a woman that is rich and edgy. The descriptions have to be real and realistic, and they have to be sexually exciting to read. In particular, I like stories about innocent girls who are initially reluctant to be trained by middle-aged men and gradually fall. But no violence and at the lowest level."
I replied with a straight face.
I think it's time to start getting confused, so here's a list of characters
