Chapter 9 - The One with the Bloodstained Flower
I pretended it didn't happen. Yeah, nothing happened yesterday.
While I was eating my breakfast in the inn's dining room, Alec came down the stairs with Lily.
From the looks of it, it looks like he had a lot of sex with Lily.
I gave Alec a cold stare.
"Good morning. Looks like you had a lot of fun last night."
"Don't be so hard on yourself, I'll take care of you next time."
"T-that's not what I meant. ...... Don't bully Lily too much, okay?"
"I know. Don't worry, I didn't do anything that bad. Right, Lily."
"Hmph."
"I don't think she likes you. By the way, Lily, the [noble bloodline] skill that you have, ......"
I thought it would be best not to talk openly about it with my [intuition], so I lowered my voice and asked Lily, who had taken a seat.
"So, what?"
"You're a noble of some sort, aren't you? Are you sure? Don't you need to go home?"
"Murghh."
Lily's hand stopped scooping up the soup.
"It's okay. She doesn't have anywhere to go right now."
Alec answered on Lily's behalf. I thought she might have run away from home, but it seems she had her own reasons.
"Yeah. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to pry."
"It's fine."
"But even if you ran away, did you bring anything valuable with you?"
"Yes, I did. But my knight and my maid were killed by the bandits and all of them were taken. I was the only one who managed to escape. ......Uuhhh, hiks"
It seems to be a painful memory for her, and Lily began to cry. Meena caringly and gently patted her on the back. Bandits, huh ......
"And Blood Shadow, that really pisses me off."
I say with anger. Then Lily reacted swiftly with a rattle of her chair.
"Ah, that! They're the ones who attacked me."
"Ehh, is that so? Hmmm, then, I guess you got your revenge, at least for now."
I was a little surprised to feel a strange connection.
"I don't know if they're completely destroyed."
Alec was right. We've successfully defeated the head Gardon, but we don't know everything about the Blood Shadow, what kind of organization it is, or how many members it has.
How many people have fallen victim to them?
Alec looked at Lily, one of the victims, with sharp eyes.
"What was your family's crest, Lily?"
"A white rose?"
"Hou~."
"That's ...... the one that Baron Riot wore on the little finger of his right hand, right? A white ring."
When we attacked that black carriage. I remember it vividly because I was impressed by the way the white ring was stained with red blood.
"Eh, the white ring, the one with the rose emblem? That is the most important thing my mother gave me at the end, the proof of our family. The truth is, even if I die, I shouldn't have lost it. ......"
When she said that, Lily's eyes fell down and she was depressed. That ring seemed to have been a memento for her.
"Fool, if you were a princess, your life would be more important than the ring. Besides, I'm sure your mother would have valued your life."
Alec said.
"Eh, r-royalty ......?"
I was shocked because I didn't think Lily was that much of a person. Why would royalty be attacked by bandits? And she even fell for a pickpocket.
"Where did you see that white ring? I definitely have to get it back."
Lily asked with a serious face, but Alec and I couldn't speak right away. We looked into each other's eyes and fell silent.
Because in this world of aristocracy, getting something back from a nobleman is not an easy thing.
"I wonder if there is any way we can get it back. I'll tell the Baron's family what happened――"
I said, but Alec interrupted me.
"Don't be silly. How are you going to explain that situation? If we're not careful, they'll shut us up."
The noblemen were committing crimes together with the bandits, so the Baron family will try to hide the fact,......?
"That's ...... but if you tell them it's stolen goods."
If the family doesn't know about Baron Riot's actions, it might work.
"It's the same thing. You'd have to prove that it was in Lily's possession, but that's even worse."
Lily said she was royalty, but the fact that she was here meant that it would be bad if she had to hide her identity.
Even now, she remains silent with a dejected look on her face.
"But maybe I should at least look into it."
"Really!?"
Lily looked up.
"Yeah. Maybe it's been sold or given away as an inheritance. If that's the case, we can get it back for a lot of money and without revealing your identity."
Alec said, but it sounded like something that could be done.
"Yeah, that sounds like a good idea. I'll go check it out."
"Serina, don't make a show of asking around in a tavern, okay?"
"Yeah, I'll ask Kojima-sensei then. I heard that he has free access to the archives of the royal castle, so I'm sure he can tell us where Baron Riot's house is."
The doctor, Kojima-sensei, is a summoned hero like us, but he's been holed up in the royal castle, studying all the materials. If so, he might know a lot about the nobles. Even if he didn't know much about them, he might be able to access materials about them.
"That was fine. We'll go hunt rabbits as usual and make some money."
"Yeah, okay."
◇ ◇ ◇ ◇ ◇ ◇
I met Kojima-sensei at the castle, and when I told him I wanted to know the address of the nobleman, he readily agreed.
"That's fine. That's a small price to pay."
With that said, Kojima-sensei hummed and went to the bookshelf, but I had a bad impression of him because of the change from yesterday. I hope he hasn't lost his mind. ......
"By the way, sensei, do you know how to go back to Japan, yet?"
"Yeah, that, yes, I'm completely out of my depth. I've already checked all the documents stored in this castle, but there is none."
"I see. ......"
"Well, but, it's an interesting world we live in."
"Huh, by the way, what's the point ......"
"Because it's like a game! Fufu."
I was a little scared of Kojima-sensei, who looked back at me with glowing eyes.
"Yeah, ...... w-well, yes, but ......"
Kojima-sensei looks at me and says with a gentle smile as if to reassure me.
"To tell you the truth, I've been asked by His Majesty the King to treat the injured and sick of this world. I'm glad that I'm a doctor, because I know I can do something good here."
"Oh, so that's what it's all about, huh?"
I patted my chest. Doctors heal injuries and illnesses, yes, it's the same in every world.
"There it is! It's Baron Riot, right? There's the address of the main estate and the villa, which one do you want to know?"
"Well, I saw it nearby, so I'll take the one closer to the royal capital."
"Then it's the villa. I heard that some noblemen in this world take a position in a castle and leave their main domain to their deputies or retainers, and end their lives in the capital."
"I see."
He showed me the map, and I had achieved my goal. That was easy.
I met up with Alec and the others, but they said they weren't going to the Baron's house today.
We continued hunting in the field and finished our day.
