Chapter 2 - Sights and Power Stones
The night dawned.
Feeling refreshed, I gently moved Alec's arm away from me and got out of bed.
Yesterday had been a wonderful night, as Alec had made me feel so good many times.
「Mmm~」
My body is in great shape. We're not going to the West Tower today. It's our day off.
I changed my clothes, washed my face, had a morning practice of swordplay with Ione and Meena as usual, had breakfast with the three of us, and then thought about what to do.
「Fuwahh~」
It was Lily who came with a big yawn in her small mouth. She said she used to be a princess, but I couldn't find any trace of that in her. Her hair was a cherry-red color with a bed hair, and her clothes were slipped off her shoulders, giving her a disheveled look.
「Come here, Lily, I'll fix your hair.」
「I don't care about that.」
「It's not good. I'll make you look cute.」
「Murhh」
She came to me reluctantly, and I brushed her hair carefully with the comb I took out of the [item storage]. Her smooth hair became shiny and beautiful when I brushed it.
「Here, it's all clean now.」
「Mmmm. I'm hungry.」
「If only you had woken up a little earlier, you could have had some hot soup. I'll reheat it for you.」
「Mmm.」
Lily replied hollowly, as if she was sleepy or not very energetic. I used a flint to light a fire in the kitchen stove of the inn. The innkeeper told me that I could use it without permission, so there was no problem.
It took a while for the straw to catch fire, but as soon as I blew on it, the charcoal ignited and I had enough heat. There was only enough soup left in the pot for one person, so it came to a boil quickly.
「Here you go!」
「Yay, soup~!」
Lily threw her hands up in the air in joy and immediately began to eat, huffing and puffing with a wooden spoon.
I filled a pot with water and made soup for one more person for Alec, who would be getting up later. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any bouillon or herbs, so I just used the seasonings I had on hand to taste.
「Yeah! I guess that's about right.」
The soup turned out pretty well, so I put out the fire with a poker, covered it, and returned to the dining room.
Lily was carefully picking something out of the soup plate with a spoon.
I was worried that there might be some garbage in it, but upon closer inspection, I saw that it was finely chopped carrots.
「Ah, Lily, you shouldn't have left the carrots.」
「I don't like them because they're bitter.」
「They're not that bitter. They're nutritious, so you should eat them.」
「No way. Thanks for the food!」
Lily quickly put down her spoon and left the table.
Geez. I put the pieces of carrot that I had carefully sorted out on the table with the spoon into the soup plate, threw them into the leftover food container, and washed the plate.
「Let's see. It's my day off, so let's take a look around the city today.」
Erland is the royal capital of the Kingdom of Vernia. If that's the case, I'm sure there are several places to visit.
「Ah, I'm going too~!」
Lily also showed interest.
「Then let's go together.」
Lily and I decided to go out together. Ione and Meena had said they were going to the Kenjutsu dojo this morning, and Alec probably wouldn't wake up right away anyway.
On the way, I stopped at a tool shop and asked about the nearby tourist attractions.
「That would be the Fountain of Love! It's the most famous attraction in Erland.」
「Oh, hee.」
Sounds promising. We immediately went to the place we were told about.
In the corner of the main street, there was a white stone statue and a small spring of water, which seemed to have been modified from the natural one.
「This is it!」
「It's mystery~, there's water coming up!」
「Honey, I swear to you that I will love you forever, there!」
「Darling, I love you too. Eihh!」
Two young couples there threw a silver coin into the enclosed spring.
「Wow, what a waste. Why are they throwing the money away?」
Lily rolled her eyes.
「It's said that if you throw a coin into the fountain with a wish, the wish will come true.」
I told her the story I had heard at the tool shop, but she hadn't really listened to the toll shop owner, even though she had been there with me.
「Hee~, theen, I'm in. Copper coins are fine, right?」
「Yes, it's fine.」
A silver coin would be fine for the right moment, but most of the coins you see at the bottom of the fountain are copper and brass.
「I hope I can eat a melon! Eeihh!」
This is a very Lily-like wish.
「I wish for everyone to be safe, there!」
I also threw in a copper coin, praying for good health.
「If you don't mind, young woman over there, do you want a stone?」
An old man in a white robe spoke to me from the side.
「A stone?」
「Yes, this will bring you luck in love and win over the heart of the boy friend you're interested in.」
「What?」
He showed me a small stone in his palm, but it looked like just a stone.
......,but, well, at least one would be nice.
「How much is it?」
「Normally ten gold, but today I'll give you a special price of eight gold.」
「I'll buy it!」
I got the power stone. I wonder if Alec will be a little nicer to me now.
「Serina, I can smell nice over there!」
Lily pointed to a small store. There were a lot of customers there, and it seemed to be doing well.
「Oh, looks like they're selling pizzas.」
「Pizza! Eat~ Pizzaa!」
「Sure-sure.」
It was still too early for lunch, but since it might be a local specialty, we decided to pay them a visit.
