Serina Volume 0, Chapter 9

Chapter 9 - First Time Drinking

"What, you guys hunted this much in just one day? Unbelievable. ......"

The guild staff rolled their eyes when they saw the leather bag. Alec was also a little surprised and furrowed his brow. Fu~, it's working!

"Because goblins are really small fry. I'm up four levels, so I have plenty of time."

I said to him with a smile.

"Heh, I wish I could have shown Uncle how well I did. The goblins are all over the place."

Keiji-kun say, adding a tossing motion.

"It seems that you have finished your work, Alec-san. How did it go over there?"

Erwin spoke with a fresh smile, though.

"...... It's not so bad over here."

Alec says with an unamused look on his face. But I would have liked to have seen some more reaction of regret.

"Hmmm? Well, you seem to be able to do it on your own, so I don't really care."

When I said that, Alec brought up another topic.

"More importantly, I can't see Kojima, what happened to him?"

Kojima-sensei, the surgeon. He's the other hero who was sent here with us. He seemed a little nervous, though.

"He said he wanted to investigate our world a little more, so he went to the castle."

"Hmm. I see. But make sure he levels up early."

"I plan to, but it's none of your business."

"I guess so."

"What's wrong with that? We're fellow heroes, right? Let's get along."

When Keiji-kun said that, Alec made a blatantly disgusted face. It's not like he's trying to be friendly.

"By the way, have you seen Shinya-kun......, No, Shin?"

Erwin asked Alec, but the pig-headed Shin is also acting separately, right? Other than his haircut, he looked unassuming, but if he wasn't with Alec, I don't know where Shin is either.

"I don't know."

Alec answered curtly, but they still seemed to be going their separate ways.

"I see. What do you think? We're going to have dinner at a tavern. We're going to have a little victory celebration."

 Erwin suggested that, but .......

"Ha, I'll pass on that. I don't think I'm going to be happy about killing a goblin."

 Alec swears and says.

"What? You're so high and mighty."

You're right. I'm pissed. If you want to fight, I'll fight you.

"Oh, that's right. We have to defeat the dragons. Hey, let's go look for dragons tomorrow."

Keiji-kun says such a thing, but yesterday, the owner of the inn told us that there are no enemies as strong as dragons around here.

"Yeah? Hmm, as expected, isn't it too much for us to handle right now? I heard they're strong."

I was worried about what we would do if they asked us to go far away. Our equipment is still not as good as the other adventurers.

"I guess so. Keiji-kun, I think we can leave the dragon for another time and call today our first victory."

"Yeah, yeah, that's right!"

Erwin handled it well. As expected of a college student.

"Sorry to keep you waiting. One hundred and twenty goblin fangs. There are also 22 red fangs, a rare item, so the total is 340 gold. Please check it out."

The guild employee handed me three large copper coins and four small ones. Considering the cost of lodging and clothes, I guessed I had about 30,000 Japanese yen to spend. That's a lot more money than I expected to earn in one day.

But I wanted to give Alec a run for his money, so I deliberately acted disappointed.

"Yeah. Hmm, it's only this much."

"Do you think we'll have enough for food?"

Keiji-kun was worried, but there's plenty of room for food today.

"I think we'll be fine. Right?"

"Yeah, we'll be fine. See you later, Alec-san.

"Yeah."

"See you, old man!"

"Call me Alec!"

Alec says angrily. I don't think that's the right age.

"I don't care if I call you Alec with that face."

I'm more concerned about his name than his age, so I say it as if he can hear me.

"Isn't its fine?"

Erwin chuckled, but it was okay. I don't know why I'm so worried about him.

Well, it's true that he saw me naked first,.......

When I think about that time, I feel like fire is coming out of my face. But I heard later that Erwin and Keiji-kun were also called out of that magic circle naked.

I felt a little bad for hitting Alec.

Maybe I'll apologize... No,no, Besides, he rejected my opinion outright.... Hmm ......, but it doesn't mean that Alec's idea is wrong, either.

"So where do we eat? I want to eat meat!"

When I was hesitating about this and that, Keiji-kun said loudly, blowing it away.

"So let's look for a restaurant that serves meat dishes."

"I agree."

Erwin agreed, so we looked for a restaurant in the city and found one that looked lively, with the smell of burning meat in the air.

"This place is good!"

"Yeah, let's go here then."

"Yeah, let's do that."

As I entered the cafeteria, I saw a group of men sitting at a table, laughing loudly and slurping down what looked like liquor by tipping over wooden mugs in their hands. There were a few people with red faces and slurred speech.

"Oh my, it looks like this place is a bar."

"But look, they serve meat dishes too!"

Keiji-kun pointed to another table, but that was fine as long as the ...... food was served.

The waitress didn't show up, so we took the liberty of sitting at an empty table, following the lead of other customers who had come and sat down in the meantime.

"What can I get for you?"

The well-dressed landlady asked busily as she carried a plates.

"Meat dish!"

"For three is it? And what else would you like?"

"Yes, I think so. I think you have cheese, so I'll have that too."

"Okay. What about drinks? Tea and ale, okay?"

What's ale? I glanced over at Erwin to make sure he was okay with that, and he nodded.

"Yes, that would be fine, please."

"Sure thing."

As soon as I waited, my plate and drink were brought to me.

"Woohoo, smells good! I've been waiting for this!"

Freshly grilled thick meat mixed with cabbage and carrots came stir-fried with meat.

"Delicious! This tastes better than yesterday's meat!"

"Yeah, it's true. This one's better."

"The cheese is pretty good too."

The three of us smiled at each other, knowing we had picked a good place.

I gulped down a wooden mug, but was it carbonated? Is it ginger ale?

It smells like fruit, but it's a little bitter-sweet.

"Oh, this is beer, isn't it?"

 Erwin said.

"Eehh? I'm underage. Excuse me! I can't drink alcohol. Can you change it?"

"What, you're not a drinker?"

"No, it's not that, it's my age."

"How old are you?"

"Seventeen."

I answered. I just celebrated my birthday last week.

"Come on, you're already an adult. You can tease me later."

"Eh?"

"I see, it seems that the age of adulthood is different in medieval times than present."

"Is that so."

"Serina-neechan, is that good?"

I quickly took up the mug as Keiji-kun reached for it.

"You can't do that, Keiji-kun. Well, it's pretty good."

 I gulped it down.

"A, that's not fair!"

It's a privilege for adults. I smiled and gulped down a mug of ale.
